Upon
being accepted as a Registered Breeder, a
Breeder is required;
- to keep accurate records of all operations
connected with acquisitions and sales, births,
height upgrades, deaths and breeding activities
of registered animals on your Stud.
- to work in accordance with your State Primary
Industry and Council laws.

Code of Ethics
of responsible goat ownership including
Keeping, Welfare, Breeding, Selling
and Disposing of goats by Members of
the Australian Miniature Goat Registry.

Each
member, upon signing an Application for
Membership of the AMGR and being duly
elected to general membership shall, in
addition to agreeing to be bound by the
Rules and Regulations of the AMGR shall
also be bound by the AMGR Code of Ethics.
In
consideration of the Australian Miniature
Goat Registry accepting me as a Breeder,
I pledge to;
* Familiarize myself with the Australian
Miniature Goat Breed Standards and to
use them as a guide in breeding.
* Help create a favourable public image
of the Australian Miniature goat and the
AMGR.
* I will ensure all animals in my care
shall be properly housed, handled, adequately
fed and watered, are protected from undue
stress or mistreatment and are given proper
medical attention when required.
* I shall breed for the purpose of improving
the breed and ensure that my surplus animals
are adequately homed.
* I will maintain appropriate stud records,
I will ensure my animals are easily identifiable
and are properly tagged and will correctly
register my animals and keep their height
details up to date.
* I will ensure all registered animals
have transfer signed over to new owner
on completion of sale.
* I shall ensure that all persons acquiring
goats from me clearly understand their
responsibility for the care and welfare
of the animal/s and where possible, provide
and/or promote further reading literature
that is relevant to the on-going care
of the animal and advise them to seek
veterinary advice regarding all health
issues. I agree only to sell where there
is a reasonable expectation of a happy
and healthy life and will help with re-homing,
if needed, should the initial circumstances
change.
* I will ensure that purchasers are aware
that breeding should always be done with
care and consideration for the health
and welfare of the animals.
* I shall not deliberately misrepresent
the characteristics of the breed, or falsely
advertise or mislead any person regarding
any aspects of the animal.
* I shall not sell an animal that is known
to be suffering from disease, illness
or injury and shall seek prompt veterinary
attention for any animal in my care that
appears to be so affected.
* I shall provide a signed Service Certificate
&/or submit a Buck Return for my stud
buck when selling an in-kid doe or after
service to an outside animal, after all
relevant fees have been paid.
* I will help new breeders and ensure
that they have a solid information base
and will ensure that purchasers are aware
that breeding should always be done with
care and consideration for the health
and welfare of the animals.
* I shall adhere to all current Rules
and Regulation set by the AMGR and to
any subsequent amendments.
* I undertake to comply with the Rules
and regulations relating to the keeping
of goats as required by my local authority
and
* I will use good sound judgment and ethical
behaviour and by example, shall strive
to promote the benefits of responsible
animal ownership.This code of ethics will
be voluntarily accepted and complied with
in conjunction with and in addition to
all current Rules of the Australian Miniature
Goat Registry.
