Australian
Miniature Goat Does
Our
motto is, "Genetically small not nutritionally (or artificially)
small" and our ethics (and love for each of our animals)
ensures that our smallest size never causes detriment to the
health and wellbeing of our little animals.
Our
does are kept in good condition (often borderline on overweight)
and we only keep a smaller number of animals to ensure that
they do get the best care that we can afford for them. We
would like to introduce the "ladies" that make up
our breeding herd.....

Patona
Park Cutiepie 58cm
at 8yrs, "Cutie" is the doe that
"started it all".
She is from the original Moreton Island Feral goat
line and was the first goat we bottle raised. Cutie
is the herd matriach, the big boss and my absolute
favorite!
Cutie is a "lifer" and will retire and live
out her life on our Stud.
Cutie is the mother of the first frosted does born
on our Stud and as luck has it, the first dappled
animals on our Stud too. Her Does have matured around
the same height that she is. Cutie is Deago's grandmother
and "Firstn's" Great Grandmother.
|
| Our
goats are kept primarily as pets (even though we strive
for perfect type and top conformation etc) and as pets,
they are treated with love and care and "over the
top" feeding practices and veterinary attention
similar to that you would give your family dog rather
than the "normal" management practices of
farmed goats and we wouldn't have it any other way. |
Patona
Park Chelsea, 56.6cm
at 4yrs, another stunning doe with beautiful
conformation and her mother's great pixie ears! We are
hoping that Chelsea will give us another couple of small
does to add to our breeding program.
Chelsea is a little longer in the body but she is still
in proportion and is very well blended throughout. She
is a very correct little doe with great depth and width
where it is needed. She has a very capacious udder and
has always been a very generous milker producing enough
to feed her own twins plus extra for the milk pail.
Chelsea is a doe that is just a little bit bigger than
we are aiming to breed, but too good not to use. Chelsea
is a "lifer". |

by Patona Park Only Elvis. This little doe has beautiful
conformation and is a very generous milk producer.
She
has given us Black pintos to date.

Patona
Park Esha, 52.6cm at 3yrs, is our
Champion Pixie Doe (Laidley 2006).
This tiny little "Bandit" doe is very compact
and very well balanced. The Judge at Laidley (2006)
commented on her lovely conformation and said that he
"was very impressed with her small size and nicely
balanced proportions". The Judge also commented
on her lovely disposition. Esha has lovely square set
legs that blend smoothly into her deep and wide little
body. She has lovely wide hips and pins that form her
strong little hindquarters allowing for easy births
in the future. We are very happy with this little doe. |
*Very
rarely do we have the opportunity to purchase top
quality "bred" stock to add to our own breeding
program. However this next little doe is one that
we were lucky enough to be able to purchase from Bouncing
Hooves Miniature Goat Stud in Canungra QLD,
a "Leading" QLD Australian Miniature Goat
Breeder.

Bouncing
Hooves Faith, A Grade, just over 52cm at 4yrs,
she is also a Bandit doe proudly bred by Simone O'Brien,
out of Patona Park Bumblebee and now owned by our stud.
Faith is the mother of our very first "potential"
purebred, Patona Park Firstnforemost.
She is a lovely correct little doe with great lines,
good depth and width and is in balanced proportion.
She supports a capacious little udder that is well attached
and nicely blended into her body. Faith is a great little
mother and has a very friendly, outgoing disposition.

In
2006 we were again given the opportunity to purchase
top quality "bred" stock to enhance our own
breeding program. These next little does were bred by
another "Leading" Australian Miniature Goats
breeder, Sue Junee at Yattarna
Miniature Goat Stud (in
NSW at that time).
We would like to thank Yattarna Stud for allowing us
to purchase such outstanding little does!
They are truely a credit to their breeder! |

Yattarna
Demi, is one of the most beautiful does I have
come across in a long time. This little doe has it
all, "perfect ears" & beautifully balanced
proportions and a fantastic temperament.
Demi was reserve Champion Pixie at Laidley
Show 2006 and was shown in a full cashmere coat.

Yattarna
Fern, another truely exquisite doe and one that
I have had my eye on for quite some time. I
hope to incorporate her beautiful ear type and lovely
correct conformation into my breeding program.

We
have our herd average for our does to 21-22" and are
very happy with these heights. We have found that most of
our does are growing out to 3 and 4yrs of age. We have found
that they usually only pick up a couple of centimetres after
two years of age, they become deeper in the body and develop
more capacious udders.
Patona
Park Gabbeelf, purchased from Mrs Burke, her parents
said to have originated from an "Aussie Short Eared"
breeder in NSW. Gabbee will be classified as an Elf
under AMGR
Breed Standards, her Father "Zandelf"
measured just under 25" as a four year old, her
mother was also spotted and was said to have been about
22" in height. Unfortunately she had died prior
to us purchasing Zandelf's little herd.
We are very pleased to have Gabbee and are looking forward
to breeding Elf goats and "short eared" animals
to use to correct some of the "lazy" ears
that are being produced on our stud. |

We
are proud to be members of the Miniature
Goat Breeders Association of Australia Inc. We support
them and their members. We strive to promote the miniature
goat as an animal of beauty, clean, well cared for, the perfect
alternative pet with great temperaments and NOT the tin-can-eating,
smelly, long-horned, head butting creatures that goats are
often thought of as.
